Robert Howard was a 16-year-old who went to a Friday night football game at William M. Raines High School in 2018 and ended up killing one person and injuring two. He’s accused of killing 19-year-old Joe Rod Smith. He wounded a 17-year-old male student from Jean Ribault High School who was with Smith and a 16-year-old girl.

At first, he was charged with first degree and second-degree murder. After witnesses stopped cooperating his charges got dropped to manslaughter and aggravated battery. Howard, now 20, was sentenced to five years in prison, with credit for three-and-a-half years served in jail. He also received 10 years of probation. The victim’s mother said, "only thing I didn’t like about it was I didn’t get to speak my peace in court. That’s the part that hurt me. I really wanted to speak my peace,” she added. “I wanted him to hear out of my mouth, let him know what he took from me.”

How did we get to the point that a 16-year-old male thinks it’s OK to murder someone in cold blood at a high school football game? This case is so sad because an innocent kid was killed. What are your thoughts?
